With a spacious promenade and wide tree-lined streets, this family friendly seaside resort town has been a popular tourist destination for decades. Only 20 minutes from Malaga airport, its conveniently placed. But since the 80s and 90s it has come a long way – often known as a stereotypical British tourist haunt, although evident in parts of it, is not the whole story. It is close to other popular destinations in the region, such as Marbella, Fuengirola and Torremolinos, giving you the opportunity to explore the Costa Del Sol. Benalmádena has many attractions to explore by day, most famously it’s Puerto Marina, a luxurious marina with other 1,000 moorings for boats and yachts. Surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants you can spend a whole day exploring the marina, people watching and dining. Not just for the adults, Benalmádena has plenty on offer for children to enjoy, Tivoli World amusement park is a well-known theme park with a range of rides and attractions for the whole family. A visit to the butterfly park for both children and adults is fun yet educational and the more adventurous amongst us will take the cable car (Teleférico Benalmádena) which heads up to Mount Calamorro with spectacular views along the entirety of the Costa del Sol. For history buffs the town also has several museums and art galleries, including the Pre-Columbian Art Museum and the Benalmádena Archaeological Museum.

Beach Days

You can’t explore Benalmádena without appreciating the 8km of sandy beaches along the coast. The main beach, Santa Ana, located near the Marina has sun loungers, parasols, and water sports, making it the perfect destination for a family afternoon; sip a cocktail on the sun bed or feel the salty sea on your face in the water, whatever floats your boat!

Golf

Golf enthusiasts will also enjoy the coastline, with many different golf courses to choose from, most notably Torrequebrada Golf Course, which has 18 holes and stunning sea views.

Nightlife

The night-owls will flock to the notorious 24 hour square – during the summer months, the nightlife is long lasting with a smattering of tourists, locals, karaoke lovers until the early hours, whilst the more cultured visitor will venture to Benalmádena Pueblo known for its old world Andalucian charm, narrow streets and authentic Spanish townhouses – also worth a visit is the Buddhist temple – the largest of its kind in the Western world.
